Ra-Horakhty had looks, movement, size, and pedigree.  He proved himself to be a competitive show horse early on; he also demonstrated his ability as a hunter/jumper, easily clearing a 6' fence as a two-year-old!  He began his training in May of his yearling year with internationally-known Gene Reichardt; less than two months later he was a Junior Champion and a Regional winner! In June of his 2-yr-old year, Ra was Top five (4th) in the AATH 1-2 yr old Stallions class at the Egyptian Event, then went with trainer Al Gruppen to qualify for & compete at the Region 14 Championship. Back in Lexington just three weeks later, Ra was Regional Reserve Champion. Each year, his beauty and strength was greater than the year before, and we were all excited with plans to compete at the 2010 Egyptian Event. But Ra was called to join God's herd in Heaven instead. In a freak accident around his third birthday as he was returning to training, our beloved Ra shattered his elbow; pre-surgical radiographs showed too much damage for a life without constant pain, so the heart-breaking decision was made. He lives on in our dreams!
